How Many Hours Should You Rent a Wedding Photo Booth?

Wedding guests posing with props and browsing the touchscreen photo gallery

For a wedding reception, choose a photo booth rental window that matches the time you want guests to use it. At Freestyle Photo Moments, you can book 3 hours for $850 or 4 hours for $1,200. Both options include exactly the same features. The only differences are the rental duration and total price.

If you are planning a wedding in Minneapolis, St. Paul, or the Twin Cities, start with your reception schedule and your budget. You do not need a longer package to unlock a better booth or more features. You are simply deciding whether another hour of coverage is worth the additional $350 for your celebration.

3-hour vs. 4-hour photo booth rental: what changes?

Freestyle Photo Moments rental options
Rental timePriceIncluded features
3 hours$850Same in both options
4 hours$1,200Same in both options

Both options include the open-air photo booth, props, professional lighting and backdrop, guest mobile photo uploads, a live touchscreen gallery, unlimited instant prints during your rental, an on-site attendant, a complete digital gallery, and a wedding keepsake album. Start with the part of the reception you want to cover

Write down when guests arrive, when dinner and speeches take place, when dancing begins, and when the reception ends. Then mark the stretch of time when you want the photo booth available. A six-hour reception does not automatically mean you need six hours of booth coverage. Your preferred window may cover only part of the celebration.

Consider how guests will move through the evening. If everyone will be seated for a long dinner or a series of speeches, decide whether you want that period inside your rental window. Discuss the proposed start and end times with your venue and the Freestyle team before booking.

When a 3-hour rental may suit your plans

Choose the three-hour option if it covers the part of the reception you care about and fits your budget. For example, you might want the booth available once dinner finishes and during the first few hours of dancing. The $850 option provides the same features for a shorter period, saving $350 compared with four hours.

A shorter booking can also suit a reception with a clearly defined finish time. Work backward from that time to see whether a three-hour window includes the moments you want.

When a 4-hour rental may suit your plans

Choose four hours if you want an earlier start, a later finish, or a longer stretch of booth availability. The $1,200 option gives you one additional hour with the same features. It is a timing choice, not an upgrade to the equipment, printing, or service inclusions.

For example, you may want guests to use the booth before dancing begins and keep it available later into the reception. Compare that extra hour with your other wedding priorities before deciding.

Example rental windows

These are planning examples, not required schedules or promises of availability.

Example: three hours after dinner

If dinner and speeches finish at 7:00 p.m., a 7:00–10:00 p.m. rental would cover three hours of the evening. This may fit a couple who wants the booth focused on the dancing portion of the reception.

Example: four hours into the evening

A 6:00–10:00 p.m. rental would provide four hours of coverage. Compared with the example above, the booth would open one hour earlier. Both examples end at the same time and include the same features.

Questions to settle before booking

  • What time do we want the booth to open and close?
  • Will dinner, speeches, or another activity fall within that window?
  • Does the venue have access, setup, or closing-time restrictions?
  • Is the extra hour worth $350 within our reception budget?
  • What are the setup arrangements, and what happens if our schedule changes?

Confirm setup arrangements separately rather than assuming setup is included in, or added to, the quoted guest-use time. If you may need more than four hours, ask the team about availability and pricing before making plans around an extension.

Wedding photo booth timing FAQs

Does the four-hour package include more features?

No. The three-hour and four-hour options include the same features. Four hours costs $1,200, while three hours costs $850. The difference is one hour of rental time and $350.

Are unlimited prints included with three hours?

Yes. Both options include unlimited instant prints during the booked rental period. Choosing three hours does not remove the printing feature.

Should we book the booth for our entire reception?

Base that decision on your schedule and budget. Pick the window when you want the booth available, then compare it with the three-hour and four-hour options. Confirm your preferred times before booking.
